Oilers Lose Three To Thunder

Witchita, KS- The Tulsa Jr. Oilers (1-7-0) lost all three games this past weekend to the host Witchita Jr. Thunder (4-5-0).

Friday evening the Oilers found them selves down 7-0 in the later part of the third period, but instead of just packing it in for the game the Jr. Oilers no quit effort they have shown all season began to kick in. In less than six minutes of regulation time left, the Oilers notched 4 late goals in the loss to the Thunder. Goals from Ben Reaman, Bobby Watson, Kyle Messer, and Nate Nelson broke the boys into the goal column. Assists were provided by Brad Raucci and one by Watson. Jr. Oilers defenseman Andy Howard added two of his own in the third period as well.

Saturday’s game was deadlocked at two after two periods when the Jr. Thunder pulled away with a 5-3 victory. The Oilers outshot the home team 46-41 and goaltender Jordan Cartney made 36 saves in the defeat. Matt Winkle had a goal and an assist along with Reaman and Watson tallying scores of their own. Trevor Ruiz and Andy Howard added helpers for the visitors.

In the series finale on Sunday the Jr. Oilers would suffer another close defeat as they fell 5-3. Nate Nelson was an assist shy of a Gordie Howe hat trick which is a goal scored, a fighting major, and an apple. Ben Reaman added the two other goals for the Oilers and Sam Hiserodt, Michael Evans, and Andy Howard assisted. Bobby Watson continued his strong play with three helpers of his own. Chris James, starting goalie for the Jr. Oilers Sunday made 30 saves in the loss.

The Oilers next home stand will begin on Friday November 2 at 5:30 pm. As always, game admission will get you the chance to skate with team after the game. General Admission tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for kids ages five and under. For more information call 918-632-PUCK
